Process
Red means kids can do these steps.
- Mix flour with water, knead till the dough becomes one ball and there is no loose flour, [wash hands]. Adults may need a final check.
- Let the dough sit in a covered container for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
- Combine meat, onion, salt, sugar, soy sauce. Mix.
- Put plastic wraps on the working surface to reduce the messiness. Spread flour on the plastic wrap so that the dough does not stick. Take the dough out carefully - it is sticky. Cut the dough into two, and roll into two balls.
- Use a rolling pin to flatten the dough into a sheet in the shape of a square or a circle. If the dough gets sticky, just spread flour. Adults may help.
- Cut the sheet, spread half of the meat on 3/4 of the sheet, fold. Press to seal the edges.
Adults may need a final check.
- Use the rolling pin to flatten the pancake to less than half an inch think. Be gentle so that you don't squeeze the meat out.
- Put 1 tablespoon of oil in a non-stick frying pan, turn on medium flame. When pan is hot, put pancake in, place the lid on. Fry for 4-5 minutes till bottom side golden brown. Flip, fry in pan uncovered for another 4-5 minutes till the other side is also golden brown.
- Repeat steps 5-7 to make another one.
- Decorate with broccoli, and carrots. Sometimes, carrots need to be cut into strings or other shapes, depending on the kid's needs.
Note
This makes 2 pancakes, Claire can eat at least one. Scale up if needed.
